Yerobeam II, putra dan penerus Yoas, sekaligus raja keempat belas Israel, yang memerintah selama empat puluh satu tahun, 825-784 SM (2 Raja-raja 14:23). Dia mengikuti teladan Yerobeam yang pertama dalam memelihara penyembahan anak lembu emas (2 Raja-raja 14:24). Pemerintahannya sezaman dengan Amazia (2 Raja-raja 14:23) dan Uzia (2 Raja-raja 15:1), raja-raja Yehuda. Dia menang atas orang Aram (2 Raja-raja 13:4; 2 Raja-raja 14:26, 27), dan memperluas wilayah Israel ke batas-batas semula, dari “jalan masuk ke Hamat sampai ke Laut Araba” (2 Raja-raja 14:25; Amos 6:14). Pemerintahannya selama empat puluh satu tahun adalah masa yang paling makmur yang pernah dialami Israel hingga saat itu. Namun, di balik semua kemakmuran lahiriah ini, kejahatan merajalela di negeri itu (Amos 2:6-8; 4:1; 6:6; Hosea 4:12-14). Nabi Hosea (Hosea 1:1), Yoel (Hosea 3:16; Amos 1:1, 2), Amos (Amos 1:1), dan Yunus (2 Raja-raja 14:25) hidup pada masa pemerintahannya. Dia mati dan dikuburkan bersama nenek moyangnya (2 Raja-raja 14:29). Dia digantikan oleh putranya, Zakharia (lihat artikel terkait).

Namanya muncul dalam Kitab Suci hanya di 2 Raja-raja 13:13; 14:16, 23, 27, 28, 29; 15:1, 8; 1 Tawarikh 5:17; Hosea 1:1; Amos 1:1; 7:9, 10, 11. Di semua bagian lainnya, yang dimaksud adalah Yerobeam anak Nebat.
