Ayub
Dianiaya, seorang bapa leluhur Arab yang tinggal di tanah Us (lihat entri terkait). Saat hidup dalam kemakmuran yang besar, dia tiba-tiba ditimpa serangkaian ujian berat. Di tengah segala penderitaannya, dia tetap mempertahankan integritasnya. Sekali lagi Allah melawatnya dengan bukti-bukti limpah akan kebaikan-Nya dan kemakmuran yang bahkan lebih besar daripada yang pernah dia nikmati sebelumnya. Dia bertahan hidup selama seratus empat puluh tahun setelah masa ujian itu, dan meninggal pada usia yang sudah sangat lanjut, menjadi teladan bagi generasi-generasi berikutnya dalam hal integritas (Yehezkiel 14:14, 20) dan kesabaran yang berserah diri di bawah bencana-bencana yang paling berat (Yakobus 5:11). Riwayat hidupnya, sejauh yang diketahui, dicatat dalam kitabnya.
