Kadesh
Sebuah “kota berkubu” di wilayah Naftali, salah satu kota perlindungan (Yosua 19:37; Hakim-hakim 4:6). Kota ini diberikan kepada orang Lewi keturunan Gerson (Yosua 21:32). Kota ini awalnya adalah kota kerajaan orang Kanaan (Yosua 12:22), dan merupakan kediaman Barak (Hakim-hakim 4:6); dan di sinilah dia bersama Debora mengumpulkan suku Zebulon dan Naftali sebelum pertempuran melawan Sisera di Lembah Yizreel dimulai, “bagi TUHAN di antara para pahlawan” (9, 10). Pada masa pemerintahan Pekah, kota ini direbut oleh Tiglat-Pileser (2 Raja-raja 15:29). Letaknya di dekat “dataran” (lebih tepatnya “pohon tarbantin”) di Zaanaim, dan telah diidentifikasi dengan Kedes modern, di perbukitan sekitar 6,5 kilometer di sebelah barat laut Danau El Huleh.
Beberapa orang menduga bahwa Kadesh dalam narasi tersebut, tempat Barak mengumpulkan pasukannya, bukanlah tempat di Galilea Atas yang bernama sama, yang berjarak sekitar 48 kilometer dari Lembah Yizreel, melainkan Kedish di tepi Danau Galilea, sekitar 19 kilometer dari Tabor.
