Ratu Syeba
Ratu Syeba melakukan perjalanan ke Yerusalem untuk menguji hikmat Salomo yang legendaris dengan pertanyaan-pertanyaan sulit, datang dengan kafilah besar yang membawa rempah-rempah, emas, dan batu permata yang mahal (1 Raja-raja 10:1-2). Ia pulang dengan keyakinan penuh bahwa hikmat dan kekayaannya jauh melebihi apa yang telah diceritakan kepadanya, dan keduanya saling bertukar hadiah (1 Raja-raja 10:6-13). Yesus kelak menyebutnya sebagai “ratu dari selatan” yang akan bersaksi melawan generasinya yang tidak percaya (Matius 12:42). Alkitab tidak menyebutkan tanah airnya selain “Syeba”, kemungkinan di Arab bagian selatan; tradisi Etiopia di kemudian hari mengidentifikasikannya sebagai Makeda dan menyatakan bahwa ia melahirkan seorang putra bagi Salomo, tetapi ini bukan bagian dari catatan alkitabiah.
