Tribe of Simeon

Simeon was a son of Jacob and Leah who, with his brother Levi, violently avenged their sister Dinah by killing the men of Shechem (Genesis 34). Jacob's dying blessing condemned their anger, and Simeon's tribe was later allotted territory entirely within Judah's borders, eventually being absorbed into it (Joshua 19:1-9).
