Paul converted on the Damascus road

Damascus

Paul

Saul of Tarsus, a Pharisee traveling to Damascus with letters authorizing him to arrest Christians there, was struck to the ground by a blinding light and heard a voice identifying itself as Jesus. Left blind for three days, he was restored by a disciple named Ananias and baptized. Paul later told the Galatians that God had revealed his Son to him directly, turning a zealous persecutor into an apostle of the movement he had hunted.
