Di bawah naungan Allah; yaitu, “di bawah perlindungan-Nya”, pengrajin yang mengerjakan karya seni sehubungan dengan Tenda Suci di padang gurun (Keluaran 31:2; 35:30). Ia terutama berkarya dalam pekerjaan logam, kayu, dan batu; sedangkan Aholiab, yang bermitra dengannya dan berada di bawah pimpinannya, bertugas mengurus bahan-bahan tekstil (Keluaran 36:1, 2; Keluaran 38:22). Ia berasal dari suku Yehuda, anak Uri, dan cucu Hur (Keluaran 31:2). Disebutkan pula dalam Ezra 10:30 seorang lain dengan nama yang sama.
