Gosyen
Sebuah distrik di Mesir tempat Yakub dan keluarganya menetap, dan tempat mereka tinggal hingga peristiwa Keluaran (Kejadian 45:10; 46:28, 29, 31, dll.). Daerah ini disebut “tanah Gosyen” (Kejadian 47:27), dan juga hanya “Gosyen” (Kejadian 46:28), serta “tanah Rameses” (Kejadian 47:11; Keluaran 12:37), karena kota Pitom dan Rameses terletak di dalam perbatasannya; juga Zoan atau Tanis (Mazmur 78:12). Letaknya di sebelah timur Sungai Nil, dan tampaknya tidak jauh dari kediaman kerajaan. Daerah ini merupakan “bagian yang terbaik dari negeri itu” (Kejadian 47:6, 11), tetapi sekarang menjadi padang gurun. Daerah ini pertama kali disebutkan dalam pesan Yusuf kepada ayahnya. Daerah ini telah diidentifikasi dengan Wadi Tumilat modern, yang terletak di antara bagian timur Delta dan perbatasan barat Palestina. Ini adalah distrik penggembalaan, tempat beberapa ternak raja dipelihara (Kejadian 47:6). Penduduknya tidak hanya orang Israel (Keluaran 3:22; 11:2; 12:35, 36).
