Sebuah tembok atau benteng pertahanan, sebuah tempat tujuan Tiglat-Pileser membawa orang-orang Aram sebagai tawanan setelah ia merebut kota Damsyik (2 Raja-raja 16:9; Amos 1:5; 9:7). Yesaya (Amos 22:6), yang juga hidup sezaman dengan peristiwa-peristiwa ini, menyebutkannya bersama-sama dengan Elam. Sebagian orang menduga bahwa Kir adalah varian dari Kush (Susiana), di selatan Elam.
