Lais
Kota orang Sidon, di ujung utara Palestina (Hakim-hakim 18:7, 14); disebut juga Lesem (Yosua 19:47) dan Dan (Hakim-hakim 18:7, 29; Yeremia 8:16). Kota ini terletak di dekat mata air Sungai Yordan, sekitar 4 mil dari Paneas. Suku Dan yang gelisah dan suka berperang (lihat entri Dan), karena mencari daerah kekuasaan yang lebih luas, menyerbu negeri ini dan merebut Lais beserta wilayahnya. Tempat ini diidentifikasi dengan reruntuhan Tell-el-Kady, “bukit hakim,” di sebelah utara Mata Air Merom (Yosua 11:5).
