Ruang Mahakudus

Salah satu dari dua bagian pembagian Tenda Suci (Keluaran 26:31; 37:17-25; Ibrani 9:2). Ukurannya 20 hasta panjangnya serta 10 hasta tingginya dan lebarnya. Ruangan ini diterangi oleh kaki pelita emas, karena tidak mempunyai bukaan untuk memasukkan cahaya. Di dalamnya terdapat meja roti sajian (Keluaran 25:23-29) dan mezbah dupa dari emas (Keluaran 30:1-11). Ruangan ini dipisahkan dari ruang mahakudus oleh sebuah tabir dari bahan-bahan yang paling berharga dan warna-warna yang paling cerah.

Penataan Bait Suci (lihat) sama dalam hal ini. Di dalamnya dinding-dinding dari batu pahat dilapisi dengan kayu aras dan disalut dengan emas, serta dihiasi dengan ukiran-ukiran yang indah. Pintu masuknya dari serambi melalui pintu lipat yang disalut emas dan dihiasi pahatan timbul yang indah. Di luar tempat kudus itu berdiri bejana pembasuhan besar atau “lautan” dari tembaga tuangan, yang disangga oleh dua belas patung lembu jantan, masing-masing tiga menghadap ke setiap arah mata angin, yang dapat memuat dua ribu bat air. Selain itu, terdapat sepuluh bejana pembasuhan dan mezbah tembaga untuk korban bakaran.
