Hutan, seorang anggota terkemuka jemaat di Yerusalem; disebut juga Silwanus. Ia dan Yudas, yang bergelar Barsabas, dipilih oleh jemaat di sana untuk menyertai Paulus dan Barnabas saat mereka kembali ke Antiokhia dari sidang para rasul dan penatua (Kisah Para Rasul 15:22), sebagai pembawa ketetapan yang diambil oleh sidang tersebut. Ia membantu Paulus di sana dalam pekerjaan penginjilannya, dan juga dipilih oleh Paulus untuk menjadi rekannya dalam perjalanan misi keduanya (Kisah Para Rasul 16:19-24). Ia disebutkan dalam surat-surat dengan nama Silwanus (2 Korintus 1:19; 1 Tesalonika 1:1; 2 Tesalonika 1:1; 1 Petrus 5:12). Tidak ada catatan tentang waktu atau tempat kematiannya.
