Zerubabel
Benih Babel, anak Sealtiel (Hagai 1:1; Zorobabel, Matius 1:12); juga disebut anak Pedaya (1 Tawarikh 3:17-19), yaitu menurut penggunaan kata “anak” yang sering dipakai, adalah cucu atau keponakan Sealtiel. Dia juga dikenal dengan nama Persia Sesbazar (Ezra 1:8, 11). Pada tahun pertama Koresh, raja Persia, ia memimpin rombongan pertama orang Yahudi yang berjumlah 42.360 orang (Ezra 2:64), di luar sejumlah besar pelayan, yang kembali dari pembuangan pada akhir masa tujuh puluh tahun itu. Pada tahun kedua setelah Kepulangan, ia mendirikan sebuah mezbah dan meletakkan dasar bait suci di atas reruntuhan bait yang telah dihancurkan oleh Nebukadnezar (Ezra 3:8-13; psl. 4-6). Sepanjang pekerjaan itu ia memegang peranan penting karena ia merupakan keturunan garis keturunan raja Daud.
