பென்யமீன்
ராகேலின் மூலம் யாக்கோபுக்குப் பிறந்த இளைய மகன் (ஆதியாகமம் 35:18). இவனுடைய பிறப்பு பெத்தேலுக்கும் பெத்லகேமுக்கும் நடுவே உள்ள பாதையிலுள்ள எப்ராத்தாவில், பெத்லகேமுக்குக் குறுகிய தூரத்திலே நிகழ்ந்தது. இவனைப் பெற்றெடுக்கும்போது இவனுடைய தாய் இறந்துபோனாள், தன் கடைசி மூச்சில் இவனுக்குப் ‘பெனொனி’ (என் வேதனையின் மகன்) என்று பெயரிட்டாள்; அப்பெயரை இவனுடைய தகப்பன் ‘பென்யமீன்’ என்று மாற்றினான். இவனுடைய சந்ததியினர் பென்யமீனியர் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்கள் (ஆதியாகமம் 49:27; உபாகமம் 33:12; யோசுவா 18:21).
