Asyer
Bahagia, anak kedelapan Yakub; ibunya adalah Zilpa, hamba Lea (Kejadian 30:13). Mengenai suku yang didirikannya, tidak ada yang dicatat selain keberadaannya dalam daftar suku-suku (Kejadian 35:26; Kejadian 46:17; Keluaran 1:4, dll.). Jumlahnya bertambah dua puluh sembilan persen selama tiga puluh delapan tahun pengembaraan. Kedudukan suku ini selama perjalanan melewati padang belantara adalah di antara Dan dan Naftali (Bilangan 2:27). Batas-batas tanah milik pusaka yang diberikan kepadanya, yang mencakup beberapa tanah paling subur di Palestina, serta nama-nama kotanya, dicatat dalam Yosua 19:24-31; Hakim-hakim 1:31, 32. Asyer dan Simeon adalah satu-satunya suku di sebelah barat Sungai Yordan yang tidak menghasilkan pahlawan atau hakim bagi bangsa itu. Nabiah Hana berasal dari suku ini (Lukas 2:36).
