A-chai
Ban đầu là tên của một dải lãnh thổ hẹp ở Hy Lạp, phía tây bắc bán đảo Peloponnesus. Về sau, người La Mã dùng tên này để chỉ toàn bộ bán đảo Peloponnesus (nay gọi là Morea) và miền nam Hy Lạp. Khi đó, đây là một trong hai tỉnh (tỉnh kia là Ma-xê-đoan) mà người La Mã chia ra khi xứ sở này rơi vào quyền cai trị của họ. Danh từ này luôn được dùng theo nghĩa rộng sau này trong Tân Ước (Công-vụ các Sứ-đồ 18:12, 27; 19:21; Rô-ma 15: 26; Rô-ma 16:5v.v.⟦/R1⟧). Vào thời điểm Lu-ca viết sách Công vụ các Sứ đồ, khu vực này chịu sự quản lý dưới hình thức tổng trấn; vì thế danh hiệu dành cho Ga-li-ôn là “quan trấn thủ”, tức quan tổng trấn của A-chai (Công-vụ các Sứ-đồ 18:12).
