Anh em của sự vô vị hay bất kính; một người rất nổi tiếng về sự khôn ngoan mưu trí giữa vòng người Do Thái. Vào thời điểm cuộc phản loạn của Áp-sa-lôm, ông đã lìa bỏ Đa-vít (Thi-thiên 41:9; 55:12-14) và ủng hộ phe Áp-sa-lôm (2 Sa-mu-ên 15:12). Đa-vít đã sai người bạn cũ là Hu-sai trở lại với Áp-sa-lôm để làm bại mưu chước của A-hi-tô-phe (2 Sa-mu-ên 15:31-37). Mục đích này đã đạt được đến mức A-hi-tô-phe nhận thấy mình không còn ảnh hưởng gì nữa, nên lập tức rời khỏi trại quân của Áp-sa-lôm mà trở về Ghi-lô, là quê hương mình; tại đó, sau khi sắp đặt việc nhà, ông đã thắt cổ tự tử và được chôn trong mộ của tổ phụ mình (2 Sa-mu-ên 17:1-23). Ông là hình bóng của Giu-đa (Thi-thiên 41:9).
