Một trong những thành hoàng gia của dân Ca-na-an bị Giô-suê chiếm lấy (Giô-suê 10:29-32; 12:15). Thành này trở thành một trong những thành của người Lê-vi thuộc chi phái Giu-đa (Giô-suê 21:13), và được củng cố kiên cố. San-chê-ríp đã vây hãm thành này (2 Các Vua 19:8; Ê-sai 37:8). Đây là quê hương của Ha-mu-tanh, hoàng hậu của Giô-si-a (2 Các Vua 23:31). Thành nằm gần La-ki, và được xác định là Arak el-Menshiyeh ngày nay.
