Sô-đôm
Thiêu đốt; nơi có tường thành, một thành phố trong trũng Si-đim (Sáng-thế Ký 13:10; 14:1-16). Sự gian ác của cư dân thành này đã khiến lửa từ trời giáng xuống hủy diệt thành (Sáng-thế Ký 18:16-33; Sáng-thế Ký 19:1-29; Phục-truyền Luật-lệ Ký 23:17). Thành phố này cùng sự tàn phá khủng khiếp của nó thường được nhắc đến trong Kinh Thánh (Phục-truyền Luật-lệ Ký 29:23; 32:32; Ê-sai 1:9, 10; Ê-sai 3:9; Ê-sai 13:19; Giê-rê-mi 23:14; Ê-xê-chi-ên 16:46-56; Sô-phô-ni 2:9; Ma-thi-ơ 10:15; Rô-ma 9:29; 2 Phi-e-rơ 2:6, v.v.). Không còn dấu tích nào của thành này hoặc các thành khác thuộc đồng bằng được tìm thấy, vì sự hủy diệt xảy ra quá triệt để. Ngay đối diện vị trí Xoa, trên bờ tây nam Biển Chết, có một rặng đồi thấp tạo thành một khối muối khoáng gọi là Jebel Usdum, tức “đồi Sô-đôm”. Từ điều này và các yếu tố khác, người ta kết luận rằng các thành phố thuộc đồng bằng từng nằm ở cực nam Biển Chết. Tuy nhiên, những người khác lại lập luận với khả năng cao hơn nhiều rằng các thành đó nằm ở cực bắc của biển. [vào năm 1897].
