Trũng A-cô
Khốn khổ, một thung lũng gần Giê-ri-cô, được gọi như vậy là do sự rắc rối và hoạn nạn mà tội lỗi của A-can đã gây ra cho Y-sơ-ra-ên (Giô-suê 7:24, 26). Cụm từ “trũng A-cô” có lẽ đã trở thành một ngạn ngữ để chỉ điều gây ra tai họa, và khi Ê-sai (Ê-sai 65:10) nhắc đến nó, ông đã dùng theo nghĩa này: “trũng A-cô sẽ là nơi cho bầy bò nằm nghỉ;” tức là nơi từng là nguồn gốc của tai họa sẽ trở thành nguồn phước lành. Ô-sê cũng dùng (Ô-sê 2:15) cụm từ này theo cùng ý nghĩa: “trũng A-cô làm cửa trông cậy;” tức là hoạn nạn sẽ biến thành niềm vui, tuyệt vọng trở thành hy vọng. Thung lũng này được xác định là Wady Kelt.
