This unnamed Canaanite woman, identified as the daughter of Shuah, became Judah's wife and the mother of his sons Er, Onan, and Shelah (Genesis 38:2-5). Her sons' story, including Er's death and Judah's later dealings with his daughter-in-law Tamar, occupies the rest of Genesis 38.
