Construction of Solomon's Temple
King Solomon builds Israel's first permanent temple in Jerusalem, replacing the portable tabernacle as the center of national worship and the resting place of the ark of the covenant (1 Kings 6-8). It stood until the Babylonians destroyed it in 586 BC.
