David Kills Goliath
The young shepherd David kills the Philistine champion Goliath with a sling and a stone after Goliath had taunted Israel's army for forty days, and no soldier, including King Saul, would face him (1 Samuel 17). The victory launches David's rise from shepherd to national hero and, eventually, king.
