Books

The Bible's 66 books span roughly 1,500 years and a dozen literary forms: law, poetry, prophecy, history, letters, and apocalypse, written by dozens of authors across three continents. Genesis opens the story in a garden; Revelation closes it with a new one. In between, the text moves from a single family to a nation, an exile, a kingdom split in two, and a movement that outlived the empire that tried to stamp it out. Reading book by book instead of verse by verse shows how each one fits into that larger arc, and where its author was writing from.
