Genealogy of Jesus

This groups the two genealogies of Jesus recorded in the New Testament: Matthew traces his line from Abraham through David to Joseph, while Luke traces it from Joseph back through David to Adam. The two lists diverge for most of the generations between David and Joseph, and interpreters differ on how to reconcile them; some read Luke's genealogy as tracing Mary's line instead, though the text itself does not say so.
