After his arrest, Jesus is brought before the Jewish high priest and the Sanhedrin, where he is questioned, accused of blasphemy for affirming he is the Son of God, and condemned as deserving death, before being handed over to the Roman governor Pilate for execution (Matthew 26:57-27:2).
