Mount Gilboa, in the Jezreel Valley, is where King Saul and his sons, including Jonathan, died in battle against the Philistines (1 Samuel 31). David's lament afterward curses the mountain: "let there be no dew nor rain upon you" (2 Samuel 1:21).
