Peter's Confession "Upon this Rock"
At Caesarea Philippi, Peter identifies Jesus as "the Christ, the Son of the living God," and Jesus responds by declaring that on this rock he will build his church (Matthew 16:13-20). It is a turning point in the Gospels, after which Jesus begins openly telling his disciples he must suffer and die.
