Pharisees

The Pharisees were a Jewish religious movement devoted to strict observance of the law of Moses and the oral traditions built up around it. The Gospels most often show them in conflict with Jesus over questions of law and practice, though not every Pharisee was hostile to him; Nicodemus and the apostle Paul are both described as Pharisees. Unlike the Sadducees, Pharisees believed in the resurrection of the dead and the existence of angels and spirits (Acts 23:8).
