Tên thường được gọi cho Thượng Ê-díp-tô (vùng Thebaid của người Hy Lạp), để phân biệt với Mát-so, tức Hạ Ê-díp-tô (Ê-sai 11:11; Giê-rê-mi 44:1, 15; Ê-xê-chi-ên 30:14), cả hai hợp thành Mích-ra-im. Sau khi Giê-ru-sa-lem bị Nê-bu-cát-nê-xa phá hủy, các nhóm kiều dân Do Thái đã đến định cư “trong xứ Pha-trốt” và các vùng khác của Ê-díp-tô.
