Elizaphan was appointed chief of the Kohathite Levite families under Moses (Numbers 3:30). His sons Mishael and Elzaphan were the men Moses called on to carry the bodies of Nadab and Abihu out of the camp after God struck them down for offering unauthorized fire (Leviticus 10:4).
