Tribe of Levi
Levi was a son of Jacob and Leah whose descendants became Israel's priestly tribe, set apart for tabernacle and temple service after their loyalty during the golden calf crisis (Exodus 32:26-29). Unlike the other tribes, Levi received no single territory; instead its members were given cities scattered throughout the land.
