Mother of Zebedees children
The unnamed mother of the apostles James and John asks Jesus, on her sons' behalf, to seat them at his right and left hand in his kingdom, prompting Jesus to teach the Twelve about serving rather than seeking status (Matthew 20:20-28). Mark's account of the same episode has James and John make the request themselves rather than through their mother (Mark 10:35-40). She is also listed among the women who witnessed the crucifixion (Matthew 27:56).
