Crucifixion and Burial
Jesus is crucified at Golgotha outside Jerusalem, dies after several hours on the cross, and is buried in a nearby rock-cut tomb donated by Joseph of Arimathea (Matthew 27:32-60). Christian theology holds that his death atones for sin, and all four Gospels present it as the central event their accounts have been building toward.
