Resurrection and Ascension
On the third day after his crucifixion, Jesus's tomb is found empty, and he appears alive to his disciples over the following weeks before ascending into heaven from the Mount of Olives (Matthew 28; Acts 1:1-11). The resurrection is the central claim of the New Testament and the basis of the earliest Christian preaching.
