Ép-ra-im
Nghĩa là “kết quả gấp đôi” (“vì Đức Chúa Trời làm cho ta được hưng vượng trong xứ mà ta bị khốn khổ”). Con trai thứ hai của Giô-sép, sinh ra tại Ê-díp-tô (Sáng-thế Ký 41:52; 46:20). Sự việc đầu tiên được ghi lại về ông là việc ông cùng anh trai Ma-na-se được dẫn đến trước mặt ông nội Gia-cốp để nhận lời chúc phước (Sáng-thế Ký 48:10; so sánh Sáng-thế Ký 27:1). Ý định của Giô-sép là đặt tay hữu của người tổ phụ già cả lên đầu người con trưởng; nhưng Gia-cốp lại đặt Ép-ra-im, người em, lên trước người anh, “đưa hai tay ra cách khôn khéo”. Trước khi Giô-sép qua đời, gia quyến của Ép-ra-im đã sinh sôi đến thế hệ thứ ba (Sáng-thế Ký 50:23).
