Một tiên tri dưới triều vua Đa-vít và Sa-lô-môn (2 Sử-ký 9:29). Ông lần đầu tiên được nhắc đến liên quan đến việc chuẩn bị của Đa-vít nhằm xây dựng đền thờ (2 Sa-mu-ên 7:2, 3, 17), và tiếp theo xuất hiện với tư cách là người quở trách Đa-vít vì tội lỗi của vua với Bát-sê-ba (2 Sa-mu-ên 12:1-14). Ông được giao trách nhiệm giáo dục Sa-lô-môn (2 Sa-mu-ên 12:25), và đóng vai trò quan trọng trong lễ lên ngôi của Sa-lô-môn (1 Các Vua 1:8, 10, 11, 22-45). Hai con trai của ông là Xa-bát (1 Sử-ký 2:36) và A-xa-ria (1 Các Vua 4:5) giữ các vị trí tôn kính trong triều đình. Lần cuối cùng ông xuất hiện là khi giúp Đa-vít tái tổ chức việc thờ phượng công cộng (2 Sử-ký 29:25). Ông dường như đã viết tiểu sử của Đa-vít, và cả tiểu sử của Sa-lô-môn (1 Sử-ký 29:29; 2 Sử-ký 9:29).
