Person
Shelah
The third son of Judah, born to his Canaanite wife Bath-shua (Genesis 38:5; 1 Chronicles 2:3). After Shelah's older brothers Er and Onan died, Judah withheld Shelah from marrying their widow Tamar as custom required, fearing he too would die (Genesis 38:11, 38:14, 38:26). He became the ancestor of the Shelanite clan (Numbers 26:20; 1 Chronicles 4:21).
