Tribe of Judah
Judah was a son of Jacob and Leah whose tribe became the most prominent in Israel's history, producing King David and, through him, Solomon and the line of Judah's kings. Jacob's blessing on Judah promised that the scepter would not depart from his line (Genesis 49:10), and after the kingdom split, Judah gave its name to the southern kingdom and, eventually, to the Jewish people.
