Exodus from Egypt
After a series of plagues breaks Pharaoh's resistance, Moses leads the Israelites out of centuries of slavery in Egypt, and God parts the Red Sea to let them escape Pharaoh's pursuing army (Exodus 12-14). The event becomes Israel's foundational memory of deliverance, commemorated annually at Passover.
