Ru-bên
Kìa một con trai!, con trưởng nam của Gia-cốp và Lê-a (Sáng-thế Ký 29:32). Tội lỗi của ông, được nhắc đến trong Sáng-thế Ký 35:22, đã đem lại lời rủa sả của người cha trước khi qua đời (Sáng-thế Ký 48:4). Ông đã bày tỏ lòng nhân từ với Giô-sép và là người đã cứu mạng sống chàng khi các anh em khác muốn giết chàng (Sáng-thế Ký 37:21, 22). Chính ông cũng đã bảo lãnh bằng sinh mạng của mình và của các con trai khi Gia-cốp không bằng lòng để Bê-nja-min đi xuống Ê-díp-tô. Sau khi Gia-cốp cùng gia quyến xuống Ê-díp-tô (Sáng-thế Ký 46:8), Ru-bên không còn được nhắc đến thêm ngoài những gì được ghi lại trong đoạn Sáng-thế Ký 49:3, 4.
